A French workwear brand since 1931
Founded in 1931 by Gabriel Danton and his sister, the Manufacture Textile du Centre was established in Châtres-sur-Cher, in central France. From the very beginning, the company followed the tradition of French workwear, designed for durability and everyday professional use.
In 1935, Gabriel Danton bought back his sister’s shares and officially registered the DANTON brand, along with its iconic red diamond logo and distinctive typography. With the support of workshop manager Jean Neirat, the brand quickly became a reference in French workwear, combining functionality, strength and simplicity.
The workshop then produced the essential garments of traditional workwear: overalls, coveralls, jackets, work trousers and aprons, intended for craftsmen, workers and professional services.
A historic presence in Paris
During the 1970s and 1980s, DANTON significantly expanded its workwear activity in Paris and central France. Its Paris office and warehouse, located at 40 rue Croix des Petits Champs, near the Palais-Royal, played a key role in wholesale distribution.
The Manufacture Textile du Centre also supplied numerous public administrations and services, including the City of Paris, the French National Railway Company: SNCF and the RATP, confirming DANTON’s long-standing role in the history of French workwear.
From French workwear to international recognition
In recent years, the brand has experienced strong growth in Japan, where the authenticity and quality of French workwear are highly valued. While remaining faithful to its heritage, DANTON has gradually expanded internationally from 2016 onward, without ever renouncing its identity as a French workwear brand..
